Details

The purpose of the meeting is to solicit public comment and answer questions on proposed changes to Dane County’s special waste plan in accordance with the statutory requirements of s. 289.54, Wis. Stats.

Department staff and representatives from Dane County Department of Waste & Renewables will provide information on the county’s proposal to modify their special waste plan for the existing Dane County Landfill No. 2 (Rodefeld). The plan proposes to allow the disposal of dredged material that may contain heavy metals and polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) at less than 50 parts per million into the existing landfill. Following the presentation, the meeting will be opened up for questions and comments. All public comments will be considered by the DNR when making a decision on the proposal. Comments will be accepted until Feb. 3.

This meeting will not include a discussion or presentation related to Dane County’s newly proposed landfill site. There will be opportunities for public comment on the proposed new landfill at a future meeting.
