Henry S. Reuss Ice Age Visitor Center

Kettle Moraine State Forest - Northern Unit

Educational displays on ice age geology are scattered throughout the Ice Age Visitor Center.

The Ice Age Visitor Center includes an exhibit area, auditorium and gift shop. A back deck overlooks an outwash plain and provides a perfect photo spot with Dundee Mountain in the background.

Things to Do

  • Explore the exhibits to find out about the area’s glacial legacy and world-renowned landforms, or view a short video in the auditorium to learn more about the impact of the last Ice Age’s glaciers on the landscape of Wisconsin.
  • The center makes a great jumping-off place for exploring the Kettle Moraine State Forest – Northern Unit. Friendly, informative staff can help visitors make the most of their stay at the Northern Unit and become acquainted with the forest’s trails, recreational opportunities, unique geology, history and natural curiosities.
  • Visit the gift shop to find a variety of natural history books, field guides, souvenirs and apparel. All sales support the Friends of the Kettle Moraine.
  • The Ice Age Visitor Center offers free snowshoes for visitors to borrow, as snow conditions allow. Snowshoes can be borrowed anytime the visitor center is open. The snowshoes cannot be taken off property and are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Educational Programming

  • See the DNR Events Calendar for a list of all upcoming nature programs and events.
  • The property is not offering naturalist-led school field trips at this time. Please contact the property for more information about self-guided school field trips.
