Events are offered by the Remediation and Redevelopment (RR) Program:

  • Issues And Trends events provide program and rulemaking updates and information on issues related to environmental contamination and cleanup.
  • Brownfields 101/Brownfields Fundamentals events educate local governments and communities about brownfields cleanup and redevelopment resources and strategies.
  • Back to Basics is a training series on the investigation and cleanup process from start to finish. Back to Basics will be held in conjunction with meetings of the RR External Advisory Group. Attend in person or over Zoom.

Brownfields 101 / Brownfields Fundamentals

Redevelopment of Brownfield Properties Learning Sessions for Local Governments

The sessions will provide information about funding and other resources and assistance available to support local governments in redevelopment of brownfield properties into community assets.

Learning Objectives:

  • Know what a brownfield property is
  • Be able to identify redevelopment opportunities in their community
  • Know about assistance available to local governments
  • Learn about relevant liability protections and exemptions for local governments
  • Hear about successful examples of redevelopment from other communities

"Back to Basics" Training Series

During 2025 and 2026, the RR Program will host a five-session Back to Basics training series focused on the basics of discovering and reporting contamination and the process to investigate and remediate contaminated properties. In-person and virtual attendance options will be provided. In-person attendees will have an opportunity to meet regional DNR staff members from the RR Program.

Individuals involved in or affected by the investigation and cleanup of environmental contamination and the redevelopment of contaminated properties are encouraged to attend, including environmental consultants, developers, attorneys, responsible parties, local governments, property owners and those affected by contamination in their communities.
