DNR Responds To USFWS Draft Ruling On Lake Sturgeon
The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is aware of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service’s (USFWS) announcement today of the 12-month finding on a petition to list lake sturgeon as an endangered or threatened species. The notification of petition finding identifies that the listing of lake sturgeon as an endangered or threatened species is not warranted at this time.
DNR Responds To EPA’s Designation Of PFOA And PFOS As Hazardous Substances
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) today announced the designation of PFOA and PFOS, including their salts and structural isomers, as hazardous substances under the federal Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Act, also known as "Superfund." The EPA is taking this action because significant evidence demonstrates that when released into the environment, these chemicals may present substantial danger to public health and the environment.
