MADISON, Wis. – The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) encourages nature lovers to check out new pollinator tees and crewnecks in the DNR's merchandise store, featuring the Karner blue butterfly and rusty patched bumble bee.
Wisconsin provides crucial habitat for both of these endangered species, including the largest remaining population of Karner blue butterflies.
The Karner blue butterfly is a federally endangered species and a Wisconsin special concern species. You can help support Karners by purchasing DNR merch, planting their only host plant, native wild lupine (Lupinus perennis) if you live in the Karner's native range or joining the Karner Blue Butterfly Volunteer Monitoring Program.
Wisconsin is home to 20 species of bumble bees, and the rusty patched bumble bee is federally endangered. Celebrate rusty patched bumble bees by wearing this gear, gifting it to someone who loves pollinators or volunteering with the Bumble Bee Brigade.
