Havenwoods State Forest is Wisconsin’s only urban state forest, featuring 237 acres of grasslands, woods and wetlands in the city of Milwaukee. Hike, run, bike and watch wildlife on over six miles of trails. Explore one of the four ponds, stroll over the 120-foot bridge or find a bench to sit and relax outdoors.

Visitors of all ages can drop in from 8:30 a.m. - 4 p.m. to see our reptiles and amphibians and participate in family-friendly activities.

Each Nature Storytime includes a story and a craft or activity created for kids ages 2- 5.

Take a guided 1.5-mile hike through the forests and prairies in the early evening.

Join us on a hike through Havenwoods, where we’ll talk about Havenwoods’ history and where we are headed next.

Create your own mini alebrije with paper and Mexican paste technique (paper mache/cartoneria). Use your imagination to make a mystical creature, and learn about this Mexican traditional technique and culture.

Enjoy some time in nature over the lunch hour with a short, guided walk through Havenwoods. Bring your lunch along to eat afterwards. About 1 mile.
