This charter empowers organizations to come together around the common goal of combating climate change by providing valuable direction and information for climate action. This charter will offer strategies for a better and more equitable Wisconsin now and for the future.

The goals of the charter agreement are threefold:

  • Help businesses set goals to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions.
  • Facilitate collaboration among all stakeholders on complex local issues related to climate change.
  • Provide a structure for members to take actions that support goals of the State of Wisconsin and the Department of Natural Resources to mitigate climate change.

The Charter provides a unique and flexible structure to bring people together on shared issues like those posed by climate change. Charter members receive several benefits, which include:

  • Recognition as a leader for climate action
  • Collaboration with other members to work towards shared goals
  • Ideas for new actions or opportunities to innovate
  • Access to free technical assistance from other members
  • Shared resources to build a library of what works in Wisconsin
  • Assignment of a Single Point of Contact from the DNR to help members navigate the agency
  • Use of the Green Tier logo for marketing advantages
  • Participation in a public and private partnership to take climate action in an equitable and efficient manner, demonstrating a commitment to sustainability in Wisconsin

  2. Submit a letter of intent for review.
  3. Take action and work towards your climate goals.
  4. Report on your progress annually.
