Forest Businesses

Economic benefits of forest management

Commercial markets for forest products provide over 60,000 Wisconsin jobs and allow landowners to realize the economic benefits of managing forests. Wisconsin remains the nation's number one paper producer, a position it has held for over 50 years.

Governor Tony Evers declared October 18-24, 2020 as Forest Products Week in Wisconsin.  This celebration recognizes the people who work in and care for our forests, the businesses that create forest products and the many ways forest products contribute to our lives. In addition to celebrating the positive impact of Wisconsin’s forest products sector on the state’s economy, Forest Products Week recognizes the myriad forest products ingrained in our daily lives.
