Events are offered by the Remediation and Redevelopment (RR) Program as part of three different series:

  • Issues And Trends webinars provide program and rulemaking updates and information on issues related to environmental contamination and cleanup.
  • Brownfields 101/Brownfields Fundamentals events educate local governments and communities about brownfields cleanup and redevelopment resources and strategies.
  • Consultants’ Days offer information for environmental professionals focused on environmental cleanup laws, best practices, compliance and guidance.

Investigation of the Conduit Vapor Intrusion Pathway

(Issues & Trends series)

The webinar will cover important information about vapor intrusion along the utility conduit pathway, such as sanitary and storm sewers, sumps and building plumbing. As part of the session, the DNR will summarize the results of a multi-year effort to collect several hundred samples collected within utility conduits at approximately 70 sites in Wisconsin.

Learning Objectives:

  • Learn how contaminant vapors enter, travel through, and enter buildings through utility conduits.
  • Discuss sampling options including the DNR's approach to conduit sampling during state-funded investigations.

Redevelopment Of Brownfields Properties Learning Sessions for Local Governments

(Brownfields 101/Brownfields Fundamentals series)

These sessions will share information about funding and other resources and assistance available to support local governments in the redevelopment of brownfield properties into community assets.

Learning Objectives:

  • Know what a brownfield property is.
  • Be able to identify redevelopment opportunities in their communities.
  • Know about assistance available to local governments.
  • Learn about relevant liability protections and exemptions for local governments.
  • See successful examples of redevelopment from other communities.
