MADISON, Wis. – The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) today announced that Northern Engraving Corporation is expanding its environmental commitment through a new Green Tier, Tier 2 contract.

Green Tier is a voluntary program for businesses, local governments and organizations who are already on the path to sustainability and want support achieving even more. Tier 2 participants agree to pursue superior environmental performance and maintain an environmental management system. An environmental management system helps companies analyze their environmental impacts, set objectives and targets, develop supporting programs, review results, and allocate resources.

“We are very excited to be officially joining the Green Tier program. After years of hard work by many different people, Northern Engraving Corporation can finally say that they are a Green Tier member,” said Mark Peterson II., the Environmental, Health and Safety Manager for Northern Engraving Corporation. “Being a Tier 2 company on top of it all says a lot about the dedication of the company and its staff in making the protection of the environment a priority.”

Northern Engraving Corporation operates three manufacturing facilities in Wisconsin that manufacture nameplates, automotive trim and other industrial decoratives. Northern Engraving Corporation is a dedicated steward of the environment and has implemented its pollution prevention program since 1988. Effective July 1, 2023, the new contract includes all operations at the Sparta, Holmen and West Salem facilities.

“Northern Engraving Corporation continues to show a strong commitment to improving their environmental footprint,” said Mary Oleson, DNR Air Management Engineer and Single Point of Contact for Northern Engraving Corporation. “Achieving Tier 2 status is one way that the company is demonstrating leadership and innovation for Wisconsin businesses. We look forward to the progress that they will make as a Green Tier participant.”

Northern Engraving Corporation is one of nine participants to commit to Tier 2 requirements, which include regular compliance and environmental management system audits as well as annual reporting to the DNR.
