Directions

Parking is available in the communities of Birnamwood, Eland, Wittenberg and Tigerton. State Highway 45 runs through or parallel to these four communities in Shawano County. In Eland, the Wiouwash State Trail connects with the Mountain-Bay State Trail. The Mountain-Bay State Trail runs between Wausau and Green Bay. Shawano County Recreation Map [PDF, exit DNR].

Hortonville: The Wiouwash trailhead is just south of Hortonville off Lake View Avenue. Lake View Avenue is east of County Highway M.

Medina: A parking area is located on the southwest corner of the trail intersection with State Highway 96 in Medina.

Friendship Trail: The Wiouwash State Trail links to the Friendship Trail in Winnebago County at State Highway 10. The Friendship Trail parallels State Highway 10 into the town of Menasha where it crosses Little Lake Butte des Morts on a 0.8-mile rail trestle.

Larson: Trail Head Park, at County Highway T, offers restrooms, picnic areas, a children's playground and parking areas for vehicles and horse trailers.

Oshkosh: The main parking lot for the trail in Winnebago County is located off Westwind Road, near the intersection of State Highways 41 and 45.

The trail is open year-round.

Fees

A state trail pass is not required on the Wiouwash State Trail.
