Founded in 1911, Devil's Lake is the third oldest state park in Wisconsin, the largest, and the most visited. Devil's Lake offers magnificent views from 500-foot quartzite bluffs overlooking a 360-acre lake. Enjoy lakeshore picnic areas, sandy swimming beaches, 29 miles of hiking trails, or ease into the backcountry solitude. Explore Devil’s Lake with the naturalist and uncover the hidden gems and overlooked forests and fields in the park.

On our hike, we’ll investigate animal winter survival strategies, birds in winter and practice nature awareness.

Go on a self-guided snowshoe (depending on snow conditions) or hike through the park.

Experience a guided 1½-2-hour walk, or snowshoe (approximately 2 miles) on the Steinke Basin trail, on the night closest to the occurrence of a full moon.

In this naturalist lead hike, participants will learn how to distinguish common animal tracks, signs and scats while hiking through various habitats at Devil’s Lake.
