Learn To Process Deer

-

Description

If you're curious to learn how to process white-tailed deer, join chef and R3 coordinator John Motoviloff of Pheasants Forever for a fun and informal class at Havenwoods State Forest.

Participants will learn hands-on how to skin, quarter, cut, trim and grind venison. Instruction will be given on the best cooking methods for each cut and safe CWD handling procedures. In addition, you’ll receive a copy of the instructor’s cookbook, "Wild Rice Goose and Other Dishes of the Upper Midwest."

Please wear clothing that can get dirty and bring a cooler for taking home meat. Butchering and wrapping supplies will be provided.

To register, visit gowild.wi.gov and log in or create an account if you don’t already have one. Next, visit the "Manage Safety Education" tab, then “Search for Class” and select "Learn to Hunt” as Course Type and “Milwaukee” as the county in the drop-down table. Register with your Customer ID number.

Note that if the class is full, it will no longer appear in Go Wild. In this case, please email Emily.Iehl@wisconsin.gov to be added to the waitlist or for any help with registering.
