Details

This is a public information hearing regarding the proposed reissuance of the Wisconsin Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (WPDES) permit for the Green Bay Metropolitan Sewerage District.

The Green Bay Metropolitan Sewerage District (GBMSD) operates two separate regional wastewater treatment facilities—The Green Bay Facility (GBF) and the De Pere Facility (DPF)—that both discharge to the same reach of the Lower Fox River. Proposed changes to the permit include the implementation of an Adaptive Management approach  to demonstrate compliance with total phosphorus water quality standards and the Lower Fox River Basin Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL) for total suspended solids that covers the discharges from both the GBF and the DPF. The permit also includes a proposed variance to the water quality standards for Mercury.
