Proposals for trout stream fishing regulation changes will be discussed for several streams in Pierce County including the Rush River and tributaries, Plum Creek, Isabelle Creek, Trimbelle River, Big River and Kinnickinnic River and tributaries. The public is invited to learn more about these proposals and provide input to aid in the decision-making process.

The Wisconsin Council on Forestry's Sound Forestry & Policy Committee will meet to discuss forests and food.

The topic of agroforestry, or combining trees and food production, has gained more attention. We are devoting this session of the Sound Forests and Policy subcommittee of the Council on Forestry to discussing forests and food.

Topics include forestry guidance on:

  • silvopasture, or managed grazing under trees
  • trees that produce edible nuts and fruits
  • markets for land that grows timber and food
  • implications for diverse plant and animal communities
  • areas where additional guidance would be helpful

Details 

In the morning at the DNR Buena Vista field office, there will be updates on 2023 public land management within the Greater Prairie-Chicken focus area, 2023 prairie-chicken survey report, outreach/education and partner updates. Public attendees will be allowed to comment at the end of the morning session, but the public has no authority to vote. Public attendees will be limited to three minutes each, depending upon how many people from the public attend. In the afternoon, a bus will be driving to sites to discuss the management of the Leola and Buena Vista Wildlife Areas.

Details 

This is a joint public hearing on permanent rules DG-02-22 and DG-03-22. DG-02-22 affects ch. NR 854, and is related to statewide water supply service area planning for municipalities serving populations greater than 10,000 people. DG-03-22 affects ch. NR 851, and is related to the management of diversions (transfers of water from the Great Lakes basin to outside of the Great Lakes basin) and intrabasin transfers, including the application and review process and other related criteria.

The public has the opportunity to testify at the hearing. Pre-registration is strongly encouraged if you plan to provide spoken comments during the hearing. To pre-register, either use the Zoom link before the day of the hearing or download and complete the fillable hearing appearance form and e-mail it to Nicole.Clayton@wisconsin.gov and Christopher.Fuchsteiner@wisconsin.gov.
