Trapper Education volunteer instructor cubby

With over 250 active volunteer instructors, the Wisconsin Cooperative Trapper Education Program (WCTEP) has been educating men and women to be responsible trappers since 1982. The Wisconsin Trapper’s Association and the WDNR work cooperatively to administer the WCTEP. We believe that regulated trapping’s most powerful ally is education and we strive to provide the highest quality trapper education program available.

This volunteer instructor page contains instructor materials, forms and other helpful resources for future and current trapper education instructors. If you have a passion for the outdoors, high ethical standards and would like to teach new people about trapping, we would love to have you get involved!

Active instructors can log into GOWILD to the instructor database to create a new class, add students and finalize your roster. Remember, you must notify the statewide coordinators when you post a class and to request class materials. It is recommended you double-check to be sure your class posted correctly.

If you are interested in becoming a Trapper Education instructor, please fill out an apprenticeship application form[PDF] and send it to the DNR Trapper Education Coordinator (see contact information in the sidebar). Review the criteria for becoming an instructor [PDF] and contact a local instructor or District Coordinator [PDF]to find a mentor. If you meet the criteria and have completed an apprenticeship, fill out the instructor application form [PDF], have your mentor approve and sign the form, and send the completed form to the DNR Trapper Education Coordinator (see contact information at the bottom of the page).
