Willow River State Park
Property Notice
A hazard tree removal project is underway at Willow River State Park. Crews have been busy removing trees that have been storm-damaged or lost due to Oak Wilt and Emerald Ash Borer within the campgrounds, picnic areas and along trails and roads. Please be aware of work areas and keep out of any areas posted as closed.
Weather
Little Falls Lake
Little Falls Lake is back to full pool. Bass and panfish have been restocked for the past several years. Trout season opened April 4 and continues through Oct. 15, 2026. The general inland fishing season opens May 2, 2026.
Trails
Hiking Trails: are open. Trail conditions may vary with weather.
Mountain bike trails will open for the season on May 6, 2026, however, temporary closures may occur due to weather or construction. Please stay off closed trails.
The Friends are continuing construction on a new mountain bike trail system in the park. Construction will take several years to complete. About 26 miles of trail are open. Trail conditions and more information are available on the Friends of Willow River and Kinnickinnic State Parks Mountain Bike Club website.
Other trail work will be taking place throughout the season. Contact the park office if you have an interest in volunteering.
Camping and Seasonal Water Systems
Camping during the off-season is available in the 200 Campground. All waters systems, dump stations and restroom buildings will open May 1, 2026. Prior to May 1, drinking water is available at the park maintenance building and vault toilets are available throughout the park.
Hunting
Parts of the park are open for spring turkey hunting through May 5, 2026. After May 5, the park is closed to all hunting until Nov. 15. For more information, please see:
Park Office
The park office is open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
If the office is closed when you arrive, vehicle admission passes can be purchased online.
