Richard Bong State Recreation Area
The Special Use Zone road will be under construction from Oct. 29 through Nov. 19. The entire roadway will be replaced or repaired and will be closed on some days with no vehicle access allowed. Please follow all posted signs. For more information, see: Special Use Zone Road Closure Notice [PDF].

Pheasant Hunting and Special Use Zone Hours
Saturday, Oct. 17, 2020 - First day of pheasant hunting
- Small game, gun deer, archery deer and waterfowl hunting are open regulation hours
- Pheasant hunting opens at 9 a.m. and closes at 2 p.m.
- Dog training closed all day
- ATV and dirt bikes closed all day
- Rockets and airplanes closed all day
Sunday, Oct. 18, 2020 through end of pheasant hunting season
- Small game hunting opens at 9 a.m. and closes at 2 p.m.
- Gun deer hunting opens regulation hours, but closes at 2 p.m.
- Pheasant hunting opens at 9 a.m. and closes at 2 p.m.
- Waterfowl hunting from a blind and archery deer opens and closes regulation hours
- Waterfowl hunting north of Hwy. 142 opens regulation hours and closes at 2 p.m.
- Specail Use Zone opens at 2 p.m. for rockets, airplanes and ATV and dirt bikes
- Dog training opens at 3 p.m.
