Observation Tower
The observation tower at Potawatomi State Park is currently closed. The tower will reopen when snow and ice have sufficiently cleared to allow for safe public access. Minor site work is still being completed around the tower. This work is expected to be finished prior to the tower’s opening. The department anticipates this will be in mid to late April, as in previous years when the tower was regularly opened each season, though weather conditions may cause the exact opening time to vary.
Roads and Trails
Winter road closures will remain in place until the roads are clear of snow and ice. Trails are generally open for hiking and biking, however, users are encouraged to stay off of trails that are wet or muddy to not leave ruts or other trail damage.
Camping
There are 27 campsites in the South Daisy Field campground, most with electric hookups, open for year-round camping. Vault toilets are open and drinking water is available at the well house next to the campground shelter. All other standard and group campsites, the shower building and sanitary dump station will open approximately May 1, 2025.
Fishing and Boating
Boat launching docks are expected to be installed in early- to mid-April, and the fish cleaning station will open by May 1, 2025. An accessible fishing pier is located on the park’s south shoreline, and is available for open water fishing as conditions allow.
Park Store
The Potawatomi Park Store will open on weekends in mid-May, and will then be open daily from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend.
Vehicle Admission
Vehicle admission passes can be purchased online or at the electronic pay station outside of the park office when the office is closed.
