Biking

Kettle Moraine State Forest – Lapham Peak Unit

Off-road biking is permitted on the Prairie Path Trail (4.8 miles), on the west side of County Highway C. Just south of the park in the village of Wales, the Glacial Drumlin State Trail is open to bicyclists. A state trail pass is required for bikers 16 years of age and older.

On trails shared by mountain bikers and horseback riders, a mountain biker should never pass a horse from behind. Calmly call out that you want to pass, so the rider can turn the horse around to face your bike. Then you can pass safely. If there is a horse coming toward you, it is best to stop your bike and allow the horse to pass. For more information see the Wisconsin Trail Etiquette and Safety Guidelines [PDF].

Prairie trail

The prairie path trail is 4.8-mile loop. There are also several short connecting trails for those who want a longer trip. The trail is open to horseback riders, off-road bicyclists and, in winter, snowshoers and hikers.
