Big Bay State Park
2026-2027 Park Construction and Campground Closures
The campground and beach parking lot at Big Bay State Park will be closed from Sept. 8, 2026, through approximately June 30, 2027. The park will remain open. Limited parking will be available at the park office and the Point Picnic Area during construction.
The closure will allow for park improvements, including road repaving, culvert replacement and widening road segments. The number of parking stalls at the park’s overlook area will be increased. Renovation of the park office and campground shower building is also planned.
This closure begins immediately following Labor Day Weekend 2026 and every effort will be made to reopen the campground and beach parking lot as soon as construction is complete. The construction completion date will be dependent on weather, road restrictions, the ferry schedule and other factors.
Camping reservations: Camping reservations for 2027 will be made available when a reopening date is known. Campers may utilize the “Notify Me” button on the reservation website to receive email alerts when these sites become available. The “Notify Me” button will appear after searching for your desired location (Big Bay State Park) and your selected dates for camping.

Seasonal water systems
Water systems (flush toilet buildings, shower buildings, drinking fountains and dump stations) at Wisconsin State Parks and Forests are weather-dependent. They may not be available from fall through spring.
