Check out Wisconsin State Parks at your Library

Check Out Wisconsin State Parks At Your Library is a collaborative effort between the DNR, the Wisconsin Association of Public Libraries and the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction.

Check Out Parks

This program allows library cardholders to check out a state park and daily forest vehicle admission pass from participating libraries. Along with the day pass, the cardholder will receive an informational kit of state park system materials and maps, stickers, accessibility information and more. The program aims to expand new visitors' access to the Wisconsin State Park System.

Participating Libraries

Our 2023 Check Out Wisconsin State Parks At Your Library program began May 1, 2023, at more than 180 libraries statewide. There are over 6,000 passes available to library patrons to check out for a day visit to any state park, forest or recreation area that requires vehicle admission. Here's the complete list of participating libraries by county.

For new libraries interested in participating in this program in 2023 or existing participants wishing to purchase additional passes, please follow the steps outlined below. Your order will send further program details and instructions to participating libraries.

Steps to purchase admission passes for libraries:

  1. Select one of the three methods of payment. A credit card is preferred.
  2. Purchase the day passes in sets of 10 ($5 per pass, $50 for ten passes).
  3. Indicate if a receipt is needed when placing the order.

Credit Card (preferred). Credit card orders can be placed by calling Dawn Hirst at Devil's Lake State Park at 608-356-8301 Ext.110. If Dawn is not immediately available, please leave a message referencing the Check Out Wisconsin State Parks At Your Library program and your contact information, and she will return your call. Have the following information ready: contact name, library name, mailing address, phone number, email, number of passes and credit card Information.

Check. If a credit card purchase cannot be made, send the information above and a check made out to Wisconsin DNR to:
