Baiting and feeding regulations

The baiting and feeding ban in Rusk and Sawyer counties expired on Nov. 9. No additional counties are scheduled to have a baiting or feeding ban removed during the remainder of the 2025 deer hunting seasons.

This page will always have the most up-to-date information on current baiting and feeding bans, so hunters should check back here before they hunt.

A map of Wisconsin showing the county lines. The shaded counties are where deer baiting and feeding are prohibited. Un-shaded counties are counties that allow deer baiting and feeding.

Baiting and feeding bans will renew with each new wild or captive positive CWD/TB result, and the map will be updated with any changes as soon as they are regulatory. Please check this page frequently for updates. Positives from wild deer and elk can be found on the CWD results webpage. More information on captive deer and elk positives can be found in the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP) farm-raised deer positives list. Hunters should follow local ordinances that may prohibit baiting and feeding deer until they are notified of a change locally.
