Real estate program

The Department of Natural Resources Real Estate program purchases land to manage and protect natural resources and to provide recreational opportunities to all the people of the state. Various landscapes such as wetlands, forests, prairies and waterways are being protected and managed through land acquisition and easement placement.

While a most evident function of the Real Estate Program is the acquisition of land through fee title and easements, much of the work within the program is aimed at the long-term public use of the land through the processing and application of leases, land-use agreements and permits on DNR property, land rights conveyances and trespass settlements.

Visit the Public Access Lands interactive map to locate public DNR land.
