Cross-country skiing
The rolling hills and river valleys of the Brandt Pines Recreational Trail System, located at 26001 Gile Road, offer 9 miles of groomed and tracked trail for both traditional and skate skiing. No bikes allowed on the trail system during the winter months. A state trail pass is required for all skiers age 16 and older.
Hiking, snowshoeing and fat tire biking
If you're into winter hiking, snowshoeing or fat tire biking, check out the groomed trails at 23409 West River Road to access the trail system near the St. Croix Campground.
Snowmobiling and winter ATV
The southern half of the state forest has 32.5 miles of snowmobile trails, which serve as a main connecting link between the Burnett County and Polk County trail systems.
