Natural Features

Flambeau River State Forest

Little Falls Slough Gundy

Great place for a picnic, fishing or viewing the rugged whitewater of the South Fork of the Flambeau River. Lots of beautiful cedar trees, huge boulders and rushing water with the peaceful elegance of a pine forest.

Sobieski Flowage

Located in the southeastern section of the forest, the Sobieski Flowage was once an active cranberry farm. The Ruffed Grouse Society & American Woodcock Society, Plaza Farms, the Wildlife Restoration Association and the DNR purchased the property. The area includes a medium size flowage, waterfowl nesting area and several miles of hunter walking trails.

Bass Lake

In 1983, Bass Lake was designated a wilderness lake to protect and perpetuate its natural beauty. The area provides fishing, hunting and sightseeing opportunities. To preserve this pristine natural setting, no motors or camping are allowed.
