Cultural Resources
The Department of Natural Resources is the state's single largest owner of archaeological sites, historic structures and other important cultural resources, including burial areas. These resources span the time from the arrival in the region of Paleoindian hunters to the very recent historic period. Located within our state parks, forests, natural areas, riverway and elsewhere, DNR manages these resources - physical records of our common past - on behalf of the people of Wisconsin.
