Service Line Inventory Requirements For Lead And Copper Rule Revisions (LCRR)
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Federal Lead and Copper Rule Revisions (LCRR) went into effect in 2021.
Under the LCRR, all public water systems (PWS) in Wisconsin must submit an initial Service Line Materials Inventory to the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) by Oct. 16, 2024.
In addition to submitting an initial Service Line Materials Inventory to the DNR, all public water systems must make their inventories publicly accessible, and some water systems must meet Consumer Confidence Report (CCR) and Consumer Notification (CN) requirements.
All public water systems must:
- Submit initial inventory by Oct. 16, 2024.
- Make initial inventory publicly accessible by Oct. 16, 2024.
- Submit required information about how inventory was completed and how the inventory was made publicly accessible.
Additional inventory requirements:
- All Community Water Systems (CWS) must meet Consumer Confidence Report (CCR) requirements.
- Public water systems with one or more Lead, Galvanized Requiring Replacement, and/or Lead Status Unknown service lines must meet Consumer Notification (CN) requirements.
