    DNR Biologist Finds “Holy Grail” Of Rare Plants In State Natural Area

    A Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) conservation biologist has found the “holy grail” of a rare plant in Wisconsin: A green violet long thought gone from the state, but growing by the hundreds in a State Natural Area (SNA) in west central Wisconsin.

    The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) proposes to issue a permit for the "incidental taking" of a rare lizard, which may result from American Transmission Company’s (ATC) X-43 Soil Borings project. Incidental take refers to the unintentional loss of individual endangered or threatened animals or plants that does not put the species' overall population at risk.

    The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is celebrating National Endangered Species Day (May 21, 2021) by offering a $25 rebate for new purchases of an Endangered Resources license plate. The rebate is available for the bald eagle plate and the wolf plate during 2021.
