Parsnip Purge

CANCELED

-

Description

Wild parsnip is an invasive plant that crowds out our wonderful native prairie wildflowers. Help us fight against this noxious weed and keep our prairies and roadsides beautiful. We will use hand tools to sever the plant at the root when it begins to flower, destroying each parsnip before it can set seed. No chemicals will be used at this event.

Wild parsnip sap can cause burns when it comes in contact with your skin in the presence of sunlight. Please wear close-toed shoes, long pants and a long-sleeved shirt. If you have your own gloves, please bring them along; otherwise, we can loan you a pair. We will provide tools for participants to use, but if you own a sharp spade or a Parsnip Predator, please bring it as well.

Meet at the Observatory Parking Lot.
