Native Arts and Culture of Teewakącąk: Wisconsin Dells Singers

-

Description

Join us for an event that embraces the arts and culture of the Tee Wakacak - the Ho-Chunk people.

Elliott Funmaker, Sr. (Ho-Chunk) and his group will provide a family-friendly cultural demonstration of the music and dance of Ho-Chunk Nation. Elliott will also explain the symbolism of objects and actions, such as the drum itself and the significance of the regalia worn by each dancer.

Join us for this authentic presentation about the Native culture of the original inhabitants of the area surrounding Devil’s Lake. This program was made possible by an Incentive Grant from The Friends of Wisconsin State Parks and funding provided by The Friends of Devil’s Lake State Park, The Little Eagle Arts Foundation and the Sauk County Arts, Humanities and Historic Preservation grant.

Meet behind Rock Elm Shelter on the park’s North Shore, near the North Shore boatlaunch.
