Wild Rose Fish Hatchery Open House

-

Description

Celebrate the annual fall salmon migration at the Wild Rose Fish Hatchery Education Center on Saturday, Oct. 28, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

As a cool- and cold-water hatchery, the Wild Rose hatchery raises brown and rainbow trout, coho and Chinook salmon, Great Lakes spotted musky, northern pike, walleye and lake sturgeon. These fish are then stocked into waters across the state, helping to boost, maintain or sustain fish populations.

Eventgoers will get an opportunity to:
- Take a guided tour of the original (first operational in 1908) and modern facilities,
- “Swim” upriver like salmon on their way to spawning areas,
- Learn how to cast, build a spinner, identify fish and more!
