Mushroom Identification Workshop

Join the Sandhill and Mead Wildlife Area education teams to engage in a weekend mushroom experience at Sandhill Wildlife Area! This workshop is designed to equip you with the skills to confidently identify mushrooms. We will cover many aspects of mushrooms, including an overview of the Fungi Kingdom, mushroom morphology, identification, taxonomy and edibility. This hands-on learning opportunity will also include field trips on the property and a chance to engage in spore printing. Please dress for the weather in comfortable, layered clothing suitable for indoor and outdoor settings, and bring appropriate footwear such as rubber knee boots or waterproof hiking books.

This is a two-day event:

  • Oct. 7 from 9 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.
  • Oct. 8 from 8:30 a.m. – 1 p.m.

The class is limited to 18 participants.

Preregistration is required, along with a $65 registration fee per person. Register by emailing Quinn at the address below.

The Sandhill dormitories will be available as needed for an additional $10 fee per person.
