Hike The Ice Age Trail

-

Description

Join the Naturalist for a hike along the Ice Age National Scenic Trail, the only National Scenic Trail entirely in Wisconsin. The thousand-mile footpath highlights glacial landscape features, and roughly 16 miles of the Ice Age Trail, the most scenic parts, go through the park.

We will hike about 9 miles of the trail, ending on the north shore where Ice Age Trail volunteers will shuttle us back to our cars. This hike is difficult – we will be hiking up and down bluffs, walking on uneven ground, and up and down staircases. You’ll need to bring some snacks and plenty of water and feel free to bring a lunch too. You will have a chance to fill up water bottles at the South Shore Day use areas. We will have stops for snacks along the way.

There are no bathrooms at the start of the hike. If you’re up for an adventure, this is the hike for you! This hike is best for adults and teenagers. Please preregister for the hike by calling or emailing the Nature Center at 608-356-8301 ext. 140 or emailing Susan.JohansenMayoleth@wisconsin.gov. Meet at the Roznos Meadow Parking Lot on Hwy 113.
