Work Play Earth Day at Governor Nelson State Park
Description
Join us for a Work Play Earth Day at Governor Nelson State Park on Saturday, April 22. We will work from 9-11:30 a.m. and hike from 1-3 p.m. Work will include tree planting, invasive species eradication, and prairie seed and seedling planting. Please bring work gloves and close-toed shoes, and be ready to work rain or shine! Meet at the pet swim parking lot.
Hike: Past, present, and future of GNSP. A lot has happened at this place in the past 5,000 years. Go for a hike and find physical evidence of who’s used this park, and why they picked this great location for a state park almost 40 years ago. Then, we’ll look at what’s going to be happening here in the next 5,000 years. (Or at least, the next 5…) Plan on hiking in all weather. The hike will be 1.5 miles, and over moderately hilly and rocky terrain. Meet at Woodland Trailhead on Main Park Road.
