Paddle and Bird Gallagher Marsh - NRF Tour

-

Description

Have you ever paddled a canoe or kayak in Sandhill? Now is your chance! Join Sandhill Educator Quinn Brownell and local bird expert Art Stevenson as we paddle down an old man-made ditch to emerge into the Gallagher Marsh. This wetland complex is composed of sedge meadow and emergent vegetation that provides critical habitat to various migratory and resident species. Waterfowl will be moving through the area as well as many songbirds. Frogs, turtles, and other wetland wildlife will also be in full chorus. Bring your canoe or kayak, PFD, snacks and lots of water. This trip will be difficult as there are no boat launches at Sandhill.

Meet in the Sandhill Outdoor Skills Center.

The class is limited to 15 participants.

Preregistration is required, along with a $40 registration fee per person.

Registration for this event is posted on the National Resources Foundation (NRF) website. Visit wisconservation.org/field-trips/ for more information. For help registering or more information, please contact Quinn Brownell at quinn.brownell@wisconsin.gov or 715-884-6335.
