Candlelight Ski and Hike
Description
Join us for a magical candlelight ski or hike at the Zillmer Trail system: a 1.2-mile luminary-lit loop on the Brown Trail. Candlelight skiing requires no special talent or technique, and the terrain of the trail is flat and suited for the novice skier as well as the more experienced. If you don’t want to ski, feel free to hike or snowshoe. Take a break and warm up by the cozy fires at the shelter building and enjoy hot drinks and snacks provided by the Friends of the Kettle Moraine. Pets are prohibited at this event. Parking is limited and not permitted along the roadway for safety. Traffic coordinators will be monitoring the parking lot for availability. Plan accordingly and consider attending Winter Star Gazing at the Ice Age Visitor Center while you await parking!
The event is free, but a Wisconsin State Park Vehicle Admission Sticker is required. They can be purchased online at yourpassnow.com or the entrance booth on the day of the event.
If you are interested in volunteering for this event, check our volunteer opportunities at MyImpactPage - Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (betterimpact.com).
The event will be held with or without adequate skiing snow. Only extreme (cold) temperatures or unsafe trail conditions would cancel the event.
