Aztalan State Park 75th Anniversary Event

This event is sponsored by the Friends of Aztalan State Park and will celebrate the park's rich history, including cake.

10:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m. - Opening comments, including Friends of Aztalan State Park board member and State Archeologist James Skibo

12:30 p.m.-1:30 p.m. -  Rob Nurre (Increase Lapham impersonator) will take participants on a tour of the more significant areas on the map he created of Aztalan in 1850. Bob Birmingham will comment on more current discoveries in these same areas.

2:30 p.m.-3:30 p.m. -  Bill Quackenbush of the Ho-Chunk Nation will talk about the history of the Ho-Chunk in the area.

Jim Skibo will have a table with historic pots from the State Historical Society. Kurt Sampson has received permission to have a table with copies of pictures showing the history of Aztalan State Park, also obtained from the State Historical Society. 

The event is free and weather dependent.
