Newport First Day Hike

Description

The Friends group of Newport State Park known as The Wilderness Society is hosting a "1st day Hike" of approximately 2 miles on the Upland Trail in the park. The hike itself should take a little over one hour and there will be a campfire afterward near the shelter at parking lot #3.

We may be walking through snow or ice, so wear appropriate boots that may include yaktrax or microspikes. You may also bring refreshments or snacks for the campfire. No reservations are required, simply show up at parking lot #1 by 9 a.m.  The hike will start promptly at 9.
