First Day Hike - Richard Bong Recreation Area

Description

Join Richard Bong State Recreation Area and the Bong Naturalist Association for our annual First Day Hike! This special hike is a great way to ring in the new year and make a commitment to visit parks and stay active in 2027! Our friends group will offer concession items including hot cocoa, cider, and s'mores! A toasty fire will keep us warm and provide a good spot to spend time with friends, old and new. At 12:30 p.m. our naturalist will give a small "send off" and lead our collective group hike. We will hike the green trail, which is about 2 miles. Dogs are welcome if they are comfortable in larger crowds, remain on leash, and do not enter the shelter or bathroom buildings.

This event is weather-dependent. Only extreme (cold) temperatures or unsafe trail conditions would cancel the event.
