Learn to Hunt Deer – Florence County
Description
The Learn to Hunt Program is a Department of Natural Resources opportunity for novice hunters to learn through classroom lessons and to participate in an actual hunt with an experienced mentor.
This Learn to Hunt Deer course is open to families. Youth are welcome to participate with an adult. State hunting license requirements are waived for these programs.
This course includes the following requirements to be completed by November 4:
Hunter Education Certification - if needed, a link will be provided to complete an online course at no cost.
Online Deer Hunting 101 Class - a link will be provided to complete this online course at no cost.
Virtual Class - Wednesday, Nov. 4, 5:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. This class will cover Wisconsin-specific regulations, deer biology and habitat, hunting safety, equipment and gear, plus Q&A time with class instructors.
Shooting Range Day - Saturday, Dec. 5 from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. at Florence County Range. Participants will receive coaching from patient instructors who will help you build shooting confidence.
For the Hunt Weekend, Dec. 12 - 13, 2026, you will be paired with an experienced mentor for a hunt on private property in Florence County. Hunting on Sunday is optional for anyone who doesn’t harvest a deer the day before.
Loaner firearms, ammunition, and blaze orange clothes are available for participants who do not have their own.
