Candlelight Hike

Description

Spend a night with family and friends under the stars at Blue Mound State Park for a Candlelight hike from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 3. Meet at the open shelter on top of the mounds. Climb the illuminated 40-foot East Tower, navigate the lantern lit staircase and hike a 1.4 mile the candlelight John Minix Trail. The Friends of Blue Mound State Park will host a bon fire to warm up to, free s’mores and hot drinks at the picnic shelter at the top of the mound. The only cost for this fun filled family event is a daily or annual park sticker, that can be purchased upon entry to the park. 

Caution: The staircase from the East Tower is 700’ long and can be challenging for some. For a shorter hike w/o the staircase, visitors are welcome to park at the Friends Shelter and access the illuminated loop for there and drive to the top of the mound later.
