Learn to Hunt Squirrel (Dane County)

Looking for an accessible way to get started hunting? Learn the basics of squirrel hunting, build your skills and enjoy time in the woods! 

This fun and relaxing afternoon-to-evening class will provide novice adults a chance to try out squirrel hunting a safe, mentored setting about 20 minutes north of Madison. We will begin with a brief review of hunting safety. Next, we will divide into mentor-mentee groups and hike into the squirrel woods, hunt for several hours, then return to the parking area and clean our game with a demonstration provided by the instructor. 

Firearms, ammunition and game cleaning supplies will be provided. Dress for the weather and expect a one-mile hike into the hunting location. Bring earth-tone or camo clothing if you have it.

To register, go to Go Wild and log in or create an account if you don't already have one. Click on the Manage Safety Education tab, click "Search for Class, and select "Learn to Hunt" as Course Type and "Dane" as County in the drop-down tabs. Register with your Customer ID number. If the class does not appear then it may be full. Please contact John to join the waitlist.
