Deer and Small Game Habitat Hike (Waukesha County)

Location: Vernon Wildlife Area, S67W28435 River Road, Mukwonago WI

Are you ready to see a Department of Natural Resources property through the eyes of a hunter and learn some new skills along the way?

After gathering in the parking area at Vernon Marsh, we will take a leisurely one-mile hike through the property's varied habitats. During our walk we will look at the lifecycles of common game animals (deer, rabbits and squirrels) and talk about strategies for hunting them. 

This is a great first step for those who are curious about hunting or just want to know more about local wildlife. There will be plenty of time built into the program for your questions and information on upcoming hunting classes will be shared. 

Your hosts will be DNR Waukesha and Milwaukee County Biologist Kelsey Norton, DNR Southeast Wisconsin Wildlife Educator Jessica Knackert and Pheasants Forever Wisconsin R3 and Outreach Coordinator John Motoviloff. 

To register, go to Go Wild and log in or create an account if you don't already have one. Click on the Manage Safety Education tab, click "Search for Class, and select "Learn to Hunt" as Course Type and "Waukesha" as County in the drop-down tabs. Register with your Customer ID number. If the class does not appear it may be full. Please contact John to be put on a waitlist.
