Try ink fish printing

Description

Try the art of making Gyotaku prints! Gyotaku (gee-oh-tah-koo) is a traditional art form that began in the mid-19th century, when Japanese fishermen would press rice paper onto fish covered with ink or paint in order to record how many fish they caught. Make your own Gyotaku print during this drop-in program outside of the park office headquarters. Rice paper and art supplies will be available, along with fish replicas to use. You are also welcome to bring your own T-shirts, bandanas, or other items you would like to decorate with your own unique Gyotaku prints. All ages are welcome; children will do best with an accompanying adult. No experience is necessary to enjoy this project. Both the program area and the visitor restroom at the park office headquarters are accessible. Consider dressing in clothes you do not mind getting messy, as the fabric paint may stain clothing. This event is free, but a Vehicle Admission pass is required and can be purchased online or at the park office.
