Bumble Bee Survey

-

Description

There are more than 20 species of bumble bees native to Wisconsin. Spring is the time to find bumble bee queens flying about in search of good nesting habitat to raise their young. Early summer finds the colony growing. By late summer, males emerge and find new queens to mate with. Only queen bumble bees overwinter. We’ll see if bumble bees or other native pollinators are around, take photos of them and see who we can identify. No experience required.

Meet in front of Sanderling Nature Center by the rain garden. Accessible bathrooms and a water bottle filler are available inside the nature center which opens at 10:30 a.m. A Vehicle Admission pass is required and can be purchased online or at the Park Office upon arrival.

This event is weather-dependent.
