Invasive Species Awareness Weekend: Invasive insect, disease and plant hike
Description
Join DNR Forest Health and Parks staff on Invasive Species Awareness Weekend for a 1-mile hike to learn about insects, diseases and plants causing tree health issues at Lake Kegonsa State Park. We’ll highlight a recent black locust removal project to restore native trees and prairie. We’ll be hiking on trails and mowed grass areas. Bathrooms are available at the start/end location by the beach.
Plan: Meet at the beach parking lot. A vehicle admission pass is required for entry and can be purchased online or at the park office upon arrival. This event is recommended for all abilities and ages, please leave pets at home. Dress according to the weather day of, long pants recommended.
Consider bringing: Close toe walking/hiking shoes, sunscreen, hat, bug spray and water bottle.
