Visit the Southern Unit this summer and become a citizen scientist using our self-guided science kits. All kits are free to check out and use on site. Each activity will take less than 1 hour and are suitable for families with kids aged 5 and up. 

  • Pond Peeking: Forest Headquarters – Take the kit to the pond behind the building and scoop up macroinvertebrates. A chart will be included to identify what you find. Forest Headquarters is located at S91W39091 Hwy 59, Eagle.
  • Water quality testing: Ottawa Lake Campground Office – Bring the kit to the end of the fishing pier and monitor water temperature and clarity. Share your test results like a real citizen scientist! Ottawa Lake is located at S59W36630 County Road ZZ, Dousman.
  • Bioblitz: Paradise Springs – Be a Citizen Scientist and help document all plant and insect species at Paradise Springs. Download the Seek and iNaturalist apps from your app store and search for “Tracking the Paradise Springs Evolution” on iNaturalist and join the project. While visiting Paradise Springs, take clear, close-up photos of any plants or insects you see. The Paradise Springs Trail is located at W374S8640 County Road N, Eagle. 

This event will be held rain or shine.
