Discovery Bird Walk

Description

Meet Master Naturalists Janet & Andy Raddatz to observe birds and nature in the park. The walk along Old Park Rd. and the Ancient Shores Trail may take 2-3 hours depending on what is seen. Participants can leave at any time. Some binoculars are available. Age 12 and up; children must be accompanied by an adult. No pets please. Bird walks meet weekly. We suggest bringing water, sunscreen, and bug spray and wearing long pants, long sleeves and closed-toe shoes or hiking boots. The walk takes place along a paved road with limited traffic and along a mowed grass trail. 

Meet at the Friends Pond parking lot, P9. Campers can access Friends Pond by foot or bicycle or drive out the main park entrance and around the block to Old Park Road and the parking area. There is a vault toilet adjacent to the parking lot, but no water is available at this location. A Vehicle Admission pass is required and can be purchased online or at the Park Office upon arrival.
