Low Vision Nature Exploration Walk

-

Description

Join retired High Cliff State Park Naturalist Cindy Mueller for a guided nature therapy walk along the accessible Butterfly Pond Trail at High Cliff State Park on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, from 10:00–11:15 a.m. This special stroll is designed for participants who have low vision or are visually impaired and would like to experience nature through all of their senses.

Moving slowly and intentionally, we will listen for bird songs and wind, smell wild plants and water, and explore the textures of the natural world. Our time together will focus on engagement with nature through sensory exploration rather than distance. We will remain close and accessible to one another so everyone can feel comfortable and fully involved.

There is no cost to participate; however, a Wisconsin State Park vehicle admission pass is required. The pass is valid for the entire day if you wish to picnic in the park after the walk. To prepare, please dress for the weather and wear sturdy footwear. Canes, walkers, and wheelchairs are welcome.

Please park in the Butterfly Pond parking lot. This walk is limited to 15 people so please call the park office or email Cindy with your name and contact information. Cindy will promptly reach out to you.

This event is weather-dependent.
